“How the viewer views this image will say far more about the viewer and their relationship to the unknown or unknowable than about the work itself. Some have looked upon it as a magnificent presence, a protective source, an unknown and loving presence watching over them. Someone else had a less positive and fearful attitude toward the image – which really told me far more about them than perhaps they would have wished to tell! his image was created to represent the protective force in the Universe, and nothing malevolent at all! It was deliberately created to be tactile so that the viewer is able to ‘connect’ with the image, in an intimate and personal way, demonstrating that this magnificent power is not something remote, but part of us.”

This unique work is created using a complex and effort-intensive method. Glass powder and pieces of hand-made stained glass are used in the process whereby the panel is repeatedly heated and allowed to cool. This creates a work that is extremely durable and hardwearing. This piece can be placed in an outdoor setting, as well as indoors. Skill in this method is now extremely rare.
